12 Nurses, 3 Doctors Working at Egypt Cancer Institute Test Positive for COVID-19
Cairo University
confirmed, on Saturday, that 12 nurses and three doctors working for the
National Cancer Institute had tested positive for COVID-19, which raised
concerns about the spread of the virus among hospital patients, according to
state media.
All fifteen people
have been transferred to different quarantine and treatment hospitals.
In response, the
National Cancer Institute implemented stricter new measures that would include
restrictions on external visitors.
Unconfirmed reports
broadcast by host of the famous TV show Amr Adeeb Friday night claimed that
some nurses and doctors have worked in other hospitals in recent days. These
reports have not been confirmed, but they raise fears of a wider spread of the
virus.
Friday evening, the
Egyptian Ministry of Health announced 120 new cases and 8 deaths. There are now
985 officially registered cases of COVID-19 in Egypt and 66 deaths
